Institut Darul Ridzuan, Putra Business School sign MoU to conduct mutually-beneficial joint projects

KUALA LUMPUR: Institut Darul Ridzuan (IDR), which serves as a public policy think tank for the Perak government, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Universiti Putra Malaysia’s (UPM’s) Putra Business School.

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said the partnership was aimed at allowing further collaboration between IDR and Putra Business School to conduct various joint projects and research efforts that will benefit both parties.

“We hope to be able to collaborate in various fields where we can exchange ideas and expertise. We may (for instance) discuss matters or projects which concern the Putra Business School that we can further develop together.

“The partnership is important as we require more new ideas from the university’s experts,” he said.

Asked whether there are plans for IDR to recruit graduates from Putra Business School in the future, Zambry said: “Maybe (possible).”

Zambry was speaking to reporters at Putra Business School where he witnessed the signing of the MoU between IDR chief executive officer Dr Mazalan Kamis and Putra Business School president and CEO Professor Dr Zulkornain Yusop.

Also present were UPM vice-chancellor Professor Datin Dr Aini Idris and UPM Economics and Management Faculty dean Professor Dr Azali Mohamed.

It is also understood that the partnership will include collaboration in designing and developing the curriculum of Putra Business School’s new Master’s programme.

In conjunction with the signing of the MoU, Zambry was also appointed UPM professor of practice.

Zambry, who has served as menteri besar for seven years now, was also given the opportunity to share his stories and experiences with the business school students at the university’s engagement session, with the talk entitled: “MB3P and Perak’s Transformation Journey”.
