Lanterns light up Kuching

THE state capital was brighter than usual following the distribution of 3,000 lanterns during this year’s “Lantern of Unity” programme on Saturday.

The programme, currently in its seventh year, was jointly held by Sara Urusharta Sdn Bhd, a property and facilities company under Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), the Tun Jugah Management Corporation and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP).

People from all walks of life started gathering at the Sarawak Plaza here as early as 7pm on Tuesday to get their hands on the colourful lanterns.

Joining the crowd were political secretary to the chief minister and SUPP Central Youth chief Tan Kai, Sara Urusharta Sdn Bhd general manager Alan Poh and Tun Jugah Management Corporation marketing manager Sam Hong.

Also present were SEDC Tourism and Hospitality Division account manager Gan Say Soon and SUPP Youth Central secretary Milton Foo.
