Ex-vice chancellor UITM to be made Emeritus Professor

SHAH ALAM: A former vice-chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UITM) Tan Sri Dr Ibrahim Shah Abu Shah will be accorded the title of emeritus professor at the university’s convocation ceremony to be held from Oct 14 to Nov 14.

Its vice-chancellor Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Hassan Said said in a statement today that the award was an appreciation of Ibrahim Shah’s commitment, expertise and earnestness during his term as vice-chancellor from 2001-2009.

“When he was vice-chancellor, he was responsible for many important changes which took the UITM management system to a more systematic and excellent level,” he said.

Hassan added that at the university’s 87th convocation ceremony, a total of 26,417 graduates will receive their degrees and diplomas at 12 UITM branches throughout the country.

“Of these, 71 graduates will be conferred their doctorate degrees, 1,286 will get their masters degree, 82 post-graduate diplomas and 10,639 first degrees,” he said.

He added that at the Shah Alam UITM campus, 513 graduates will get their doctorate and masters degrees at the first session of the convocation ceremony which will be officiated by the Pro Chancellor of UITM Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah at Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor.

“In total, 10,753 graduates will receive their scrolls at the convocation ceremony in the Shah Alam UITM campus which begins this Saturday until Oct 21,” he said. - Bernama
