Aliff Ashraf Rosli, 24, died at the scene in the accident which occurred at around midnight.
Passengers in the two other vehicles were not injured, and they tried to extricate Aliff from his car before help could arrive.
"We tried to pull the victim out of the car, but were not able to do so. His car was badly damaged," said one of the accident victims, known only as Eng, 20.
Eng said he and his friends were on their way to Melaka when a vehicle in front of them made an emergency stop, forcing his friend, who was behind the wheel, to swerve to the left side of the road, before crashing into another vehicle.
"All of us managed to get out of the car. We discovered that another vehicle involved in the accident was badly damaged. When we checked, we found that a man was trapped inside the vehicle.
"Together with other road users, we tried to pull him out of the car, but it was impossible. We had to wait for the authorities," said Eng, who said that he didn't know what caused the accident.
"I am still traumatised and will lodge a police report," he said when met at the site last night.
