Media Prima wins 2 awards in Tokyo

TOKYO: Media Prima Bhd (Media Prima), Malaysia’s leading fully-integrated media group, was honoured with two wins at the International ARC Awards Gala Dinner.

It was announced by organiser Mercomm, Inc. at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Tokyo, Japan, on Thursday.

Media Prima won the International Grand Award for Non-Traditional Annual Report (Asia/Pacific category) and Gold Award for Non-Traditional Annual Reports (Media Company: Other Country category) for its 2016 annual report.

It beat competition from more than 60 countries.

The annual report was produced in collaboration with creative agency Nova Fusion Sdn Bhd.

Media Prima’s group general manager of group corporate communications Azlan Abdul Aziz said they wanted to produce an annual report that engaged their stakeholders while highlighting Media Prima’s unique corporate culture.

“As a media company, we have always placed a strong emphasis on creativity in all our media platforms and we hope this is reflected in our annual reports,” he said.

He added that it was also important for Media Prima to ensure the highest level of disclosure and transparency while at the same time adhering to regulations set by governing bodies.

“We are honoured to receive this recognition. Credit to everyone who had worked tirelessly on the production. This award is dedicated to all of them,” he said.

The International ARC Awards is the “Academy Awards of Annual Reports”, according to the financial media, and is highly anticipated by corporations and communication practitioners globally.

MerComm, Inc., the world’s only independent awards organisation, as stated in its website: “Our judging process is designed to ensure impartiality and objectivity. Neither judges nor MerComm have any stake in the outcome of the competition. We accept no advertising, there are no membership dues, we have no sponsors to which we owe fealty.

“Some elements considered in the ‘blind’ judging included cover design, president’s letter, interior design, clarity of written text, presentation of corporate information, expression of financial data, and how well the spirit of the organisation is communicated.”
