Both Indonesian workers who died in landslide have valid work permits

GEORGE TOWN: Both Indonesian workers who died in the landslide incident at Lengkok Lembah Permai, Tanjung Bungah, here yesterday possess valid work permits.

Consular Consul in the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia Eni Kurniati told newsmen that they were in the midst of obtaining compensation for the two workers, Erwin and Hosrin, from the developer.

"Both of them have valid working permits. Hence they should have insurance coverage.

"The developer's company has been in constant contact with us and has been giving their full cooperation to us to claim the bodies," she said when met at Penang Hospital here today.

The consulate was with the family members of the victim at the Penang Hospital. The family had also identified the deceased.

"One of the bodies will be sent to Kuala Lumpur while the other will be sent to Bangkalan Madura, Jawa Timur, Indonesia, to be burried there," she said.

Search and Rescue (SAR) Operation was still ongoing to locate the remaining three victims of the total 14 workers who were burried during the landslide yesterday morning.
