Flood evacuees in Kota Belud down to 800 as rain eases

KOTA KINABALU: The number of flood victims in the west coast of Sabah has reduced from 2,073 to 837 as of 8pm today.

According to Civil Defence Department, the remaining flood evacuees are seeking shelter at five temporary relief centres in Kota Belud.

Meanwhile, the relief centres at Gopog Taginambur hall, Muhibbah Tombol hall and Tun Said community hall have been closed.

The department and other agencies are sending most of the victims back to their homes.

The weather in the west coast of Sabah, which has been severely hit by the tail end of typhoon Lan, has improved yesterday, with intermittent rains at daytime and no strong winds recorded.
