Budget allocation will draw more investors to the state, says Kedah MB

ALOR STAR: The 2018 Budget tabled by Prime Minister Datk Seri Najib Razak today shows clearly that the Federal government is right on track in steering the country into the future.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said the Budget focused on the people’s needs.

“I am grateful Kedah received many benefits including the RM200 monthly aid to farmers, and the upgrading of the Langkawi International Airport,” he said in a statement.

Besides the two, Kedah also lauded the proposed Special Border Economic Zone in Bukit Kayu Hitam which was expected to draw more investors to the state.

Meanwhile, the state Health Committee chairman Datuk Dr Leong Yong Kong said the construction of the Cancer Centre in Sungai Petani and upgrading of the Cardiology and Cardiothoracic services at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital indicated Kedah's capability in providing comprehensive health services.

He said the state government welcomed the two projects as it not only benefited Kedahans but also patients from neighbouring states.

He added that the move proved that the Barisan Nasional government was concerned over the welfare and health of the rakyat.

"The Cancer Centre as well as upgrading of Cardiology and Cardothoracic services would turn Kedah into a high quality health services hub.

"It would help ease the rakyat's burden as the health services fees would be borne by the government.

"Not everyone in the country can afford to seek treatment at private hospitals hence the initiatives lined up in the 2018 Budget would help lessen the burden of the people,"he said when contacted.
