Pas to take action against Netizens for spreading party president's court case documentation online

KOTA BARU: Pas will take action against those responsible for spreading information and documents on a court case involving Sarawak Report on social media.

Party secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said Pas is taking the issue seriously and would direct its lawyers to take necessary action on the matter.

"The documents were filed by the party's president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang at the London High Court in defence of his defamation suit against Sarawak Report’s editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown.

"The president has denied all allegations by the Sarawak Report editor who had named Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan as her source.

"Therefore, Pas urges Ambiga to response to the editor's allegations so that a 'true picture' on all the hearsay will be answered," he said in a statement on Tuesday night.

Takiyuddin said Pas's lawyers are studying the case and would take necessary action once they ready.

Yesterday's The Malaysian Insight article stated that Rewcastle-Brown's made claims in a court filing on Oct 11 that she spoke to Ambiga in July last year about Najib, 1Malaysian Development Bhd (1MDB), and Pas.

Her defence was filed against a defamation suit by Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang against her. The suit was filed at the Queen's Justice Division High Court in London, United Kingdom on April 21 this year.
