Online way to eliminate graft

BUTTERWORTH: The Road Transport Department (RTD)'s online application is the best way to eliminate graft opportunities by its personnel.

State RTD director Noorul Habib Abdul Guduse said that the department had expanded the online application's functionality for the ease of the public, which would at the same time, be able to curb its personnel being involved to any corruption practices.

"The online application will lessen the need for face to face interaction which can lead to corruption, hence it indirectly helps to prevent our officers from getting involved in grafts.

"More over, we have our own integrity and internal audit unit, which will constantly monitor our officers to ensure they discharge their public duties effectively and professionally," he said after the corruption-free pledge signing ceremony at its state headquarters here today.

Present to witness the signing ceremony was state Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy director (operations) Ch'ng Soon Heng.

For the past two years, under the helm of Noorul Habib, there has been zero corruption cases connected to any of its officers here in the state.

"We hope to continue this good track record, and we will be ready to work closely with the relevant agencies to maintain it," he added.

Meanwhile, Ch'ng said that corruption amongst government department officers was considered a serious case as they are the parties having direct communication with the people in order to serve them.
