KUALA LUMPUR: The Finnish government is opening its doors to 150,000 international students to study in Finland by year 2020.
Finnish Ambassador to Malaysia Petri Puhakka said students could study in various fields conducted in English including forestry, information and communication technology (ICT), green technology, teaching as well medicine.
“The remarkably lower cost of living in Finland compared to the United Kingdom and United States and that our universities topped global rankings make Finnish institutions an attractive alternative for international students,” he told Bernama at the launch of Edunation Finland here, today.
Currently, the country is in talks with some local universities including Universiti Sains Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia on possible collaboration to enhance the education sector.
Finland has a total of 39 universities with 25 of them in applied sciences.
Meanwhile, Edunation business development manager, Ella Gustafsson said currently artificial intelligence (AI) is being applied in several courses especially in business administration.
“Edunation is transforming the application process into a modern and internationally unique system which makes applying to study in Finland easier than ever before,” she said.
Edunation is a Finnish startup which partnered with Finnish Embassy in Malaysia, with the aim of making high quality Finnish education more accessible to the world.
Malaysia and Finland have been conducting students exchange programmes for 30 years with bilateral relationship between both countries established since 1972. -- Bernama
