Still no trace of missing workers in Rawang oil storage tanker explosion

RAWANG: The search and rescue (SAR) mission to locate three men still unaccounted for following an oil storage tanker explosion at a cement factory in Kuala Garing here is on-going.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said his team has pumped out roughly half of the 725,000 litres of diesel contained in the oil tanker, into which the three men may have fallen.

"It will take another two to three hours to empty the tanker. We have not found the victims," he said today.

It was reported that enforcement agencies would need to pump out the entire content of the 12 x 4 metre tanker to search for the victims, who are believed to have fallen into the vessel when it exploded and caught fire at 4.15pm yesterday.

A witness said the victims were conducting maintenance work at the tank just before it exploded.
