Armed forces want all members to exercise voting rights in GE14

MELAKA: The armed forces are working towards ensuring that all eligible personnel are registered to vote by the time the 14th general election (GE14) comes around.

Army chief General Datuk Seri Zulkiple Kassim said he wants all members to exercise their voting rights as Malaysian citizens, and that no one is left out during the national polls.

“As per usual, the armed forces will cast their votes as early voters due to the nature of their work.

“We are making sure that all eligible personnel are registered so that they are able to vote (by the time) Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announces the election day (date).

“I’m sure it will be smooth sailing,” he said after receiving the Darjah Cemerlang Seri Melaka (DCSM) at an investiture ceremony held in conjunction with Melaka Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob’s 79th birthday on Saturday.

Asked about the number of eligible voters among the armed forces, Zulkiple estimated it to be around 80,000.
