MAHB embarks on proper washroom etiquette campaign

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is embarking on an awareness campaign to educate the younger generation on proper washroom etiquette.

For a start, the airport operator has initiated a major refurbishment project at 225 of its washrooms in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The project is expected to be completed next year.

MAHB managing director, Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said it was important to promote good washroom etiquette from a very young age.

“We believe that as the custodian of the country’s gateways, it is important to represent the image of a considerate and courteous nation to the world.

“Wouldn’t it be great if visitors to our country identify us, not only with our superior facilities but also the correct mindset in taking care of our public infrastructure?

“We feel that our efforts in this area would also go far in upholding our mission of providing a joyful experience to our airport users,” he said in a statement.

Part of the activities conducted for the campaign included visits from primary school students to KLIA.

These students were also exposed on the proper use of public amenities.

“A total of 140 students were invited to join in this campaign. They were from SJK (C) Wah Lian Sg Pelek (who visited on Nov 2), SK Bangkong (A) Sg Pelek (Nov 7), SJK (T) Dengkil (Nov 9), and SK Dengkil (Nov 13).

“On top of learning washroom etiquette, the children were also treated to an airport tour where they visited the airside and had a once in a lifetime opportunity to get a closer view of the airside operations,” he said, adding that MAHB has a dedicated team that would be involved in the campaign.
