Najib to attend PBS' 32nd annual congress during Sabah visit tomorrow

KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is set to meet with Sabah leaders and the grassroots during his working visit to the state tomorrow.

Scheduled to arrive at 11am, the Umno president is expected to meet with Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) leaders and members at the party’s 32nd annual congress.

The congress will take place at 11.30am at the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) building in Penampang district.

PBS founder and president cum state Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan and party acting president Datuk Seri Dr Maximum Ongkili are expected to be present.

After the congress, Najib is slated to launch the sixth Sabah package of the Pan Borneo Highway in the afternoon at the Putatan district council, near here.

The new work package, worth RM900 million, features a 19.1km stretch spanning from Kampung Ketiau in Putatan to Inanam.

Najib is also scheduled to inspect the ongoing works for Package 5 of the Pan Borneo project, which he launched in May, at Simpudu Bridge in Papar district.

The fifth package involves 11.7km road stretching from Papar to Donggongon. It will feature six U-turns and a new bridge to be built over the Simpudu river.

While in Papar, Najib is expected to do a walkabout and visit a new classroom project at SK Tanaki late afternoon.

He is scheduled to return to Kuala Lumpur in the evening.
