More than 5,000 foreigners entered Sabah illegally in the last two years

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 5,392 foreigners have entered Sabah illegally in the last two years

and are currently detained at temporary detention centers around the state, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

The figure stipulated is from 2016 to Nov 21 this year.

According to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, from 1990 until yesterday, 563,162 foreigners have been deported from Sabah.

"The majority of illegals were from the Philippines and Indonesia," he said to a question from Datuk Jumat Idris (BN-Sepanggar).

Shahidan also said 39,360 documents have been issued by the authorities to foreigners.

Among the documents are entry permits, temporary identification cards and census certificates.
