Another bus crash in Perak: Six passengers injured

IPOH: Six people were injured when a double-decker express bus was involved in an accident with a trailer at KM249.6 of the North-South Expressway near the Sungai Perak Rest and Service Area (R&R), Kuala Kangsar early this morning.

A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the injured victims comprised five passengers and the bus driver.

He said the accident occurred when the express bus carrying 42 passengers from Kangar, Perlis to Klang, Selangor crashed into the back of the trailer parked on the road shoulder on the exit from the R&R.

He said the department received a call at about 3.44am before a team each from the Kuala Kangsar and Meru Raya stations rushed to the location.

Upon arrival, firemen assisted a visually impaired victim to get out of the bus via the emergency door, he added.

“Members of the public also helped to rescue other injured victims from of the bus,” he said in a statement today.

He said the driver of the trailer which was carrying 25 tonnes of sawdust and his attendant were unhurt. - Bernama
