Najib arrives in Istanbul for OIC talks on Jerusalem issue

ISTANBUL: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has arrived here to attend the extraordinary Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit.

His arrival with wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor at the Istanbul Ataturk Airport was received by Malaysian ambassador to Turkey Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Wahab.

Najib together with other Malaysian delegates are staying at the Shangri-La Bosphorus Hotel.

Today, he and 57 OIC member country leaders will hold discussions at the Lutfi Kirdar Congress Center, on the recent Israel-Palestine conflict following the United States’ recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The topic of discussion will revolve around the effects of the recognition from the viewpoint of legislation, political status and history.

Heading the Malaysian delegation, Najib is joined by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, and will be delivering Malaysia’s statement regarding the issue.

Malaysia’s involvement in the summit will further strengthen its commitment and support to the people of Palestine in their struggle for a free Palestine with a pre-1967 border, with Jerusalem as its capital city.

The summit is also expected to see OIC’s stand on the Istanbul Declaration be delivered during the final session which will be held this evening, local time.
