KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has welcomed the move to cancel the Integrated Manasik Monitoring System (IMAMS).
“I do not agree that the IMAMs system is imposed to regulate the Umrah visa.”
“The announcement to cancel it, is appropriate,” said Najib in a twitter posting this evening.
Deputy Tourism, Culture and Arts minister Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsuddin announced earlier today that the IMAMS system for umrah visa application was shelved.
She added that the government will find a new and more effective mechanism in managing the umrah pilgrims, beef up its regulatory management system as well as sniff out the errant operators.
