METMalaysia issues high winds alert for six states

KUALA LUMPUR: Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and eastern Johor will be whipped by strong north-easterly winds of up to 60km per hour, generating waves of up to 4.5 metres, from today until Thursday.

Similar conditions are forecasted over the waters off Sarawak, Sabah (the interior, the west coast and Kudat) and Labuan, with strong north-easterly winds of up to 50km per hour, generating waves of up to 3.2 metres.

In a statement, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) said that the forecasted bad weather is dangerous to all shipping and coastal activities, including fishing, ferry services and recreational sea activities.
