MALE (Maldives): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was accorded an official welcoming ceremony by the Maldives government in the city centre here today.
He and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor were received upon arrival by Maldives President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim.
The ceremony was held at the Izzudheen Jetty, the official jetty in the city.
Najib is on the last day of his two-day official visit to Maldives today.
A huge billboard with the images of Najib and Abdulla Yameen was raised as a stage backdrop at Jumhooree Maidhaan, the capital’s seafront square just across the jetty.
The Jalur Gemilang and Maldives flags had been lined up along the street near the square and presidential office nearby since yesterday.
Najib and Rosmah had travelled by boat to the jetty from their Kurumba resort on a nearby island.
Najib’s visit is at the invitation of the Maldives president.
