MAICCI applauds PM for introducing Malaysian Indian Blueprint

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has always care about the Indian community in the country, ever since he was the deputy prime minister, said the Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (MAICCI).

Its president Tan Sri Dr K. Kenneth Eswaran said Najib is also the first prime minister to introduce a blueprint for the Indian community, called the Malaysian Indian Blueprint.

"At one time, we had a blueprint for the Indian community, however it was not the government's blueprint but MIC's.

"We are lucky to have him as the leader, who has introduced a blueprint for the Indians for the next 10 years.

"We can see that he is committed to help the Indian community.

"He is truly Bapa Pembangunan Kaum India (father of Indian community development)," he said in a press conference held today.

The Malaysian Indian Blueprint was launched on April 23 this year and is a comprehensive plan covering Malaysian Indians from all backgrounds, which is set to benefit more than one million people.

The blueprint consists of four aspects which would oversee and identify the basic problems faced by Malaysian Indians, improve their livelihood and wealth, recognise the potential of every Indian child, and to address social issues.

He said the Opposition on the other hand, despite having two states, Selangor and Penang, has never come out with a blueprint for the Indian.

"They won the election, part and parcel because of Indian votes.

"Yet, they are criticising whatever the government is doing."

He said under Najib's leadership, the country's economy grew at 6.2 per cent in the third quarter.

"Even none of our neighbours has scored such growth.

"Today, all over the world, we are facing a problem in global economy, it is not just Malaysia.

"However, we have a great leader that is leading the country even with all challenges.

"We must be thankful that under his leadership, he always takes care of the country's economy.

"To us, Najib is the right leader for the people and the country.

"Furthermore, he has been well-accepted internationally, including in the US, China and Middle East," he said.

During the press conference, Kenneth also expressed his concern on false news being spread in the social media, particularly on the prime minister and the government.

Citing the Malaysian Insight, Kenneth said the portal has always giving false and fake news.

"However, despite all kind of false and fake news, they are still surviving.

"Therefore, MAICCI is urging the respective authorities, namely Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the police to investigate them."

He said the investigation is needed to see if Malaysian Insight is being funded by foreign powers to discredit Najib.

"It is time for appropriate action to be taken against them, otherwise people will continue writing and giving misleading information to the public.
