Malaysia a prosperous nation under BN rule, says Annuar Musa

KUALA LUMPUR: The Barisan Nasional government has transformed Malaysia into a prosperous country since gaining independence in 1957, said Umno information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

Annuar said Malaysians had supported BN for over 60 years because of the coalition's ability to propel economic growth in the country, among others.

He also said Malaysia is on track towards becoming one of the top 20 nations in the world by 2050 under the current administration.

“Under the BN government, we are leading our neighbouring countries including India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Myanmar and the Philippines,” he said during an Umno Online discussion entitled “Anda Tanya Kita Jawab” on Wednesday.

Annuar later described Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s working style as systematic.

“Once he became the prime minister, Najib conducted a census and a study on the needs of the people.

"Through that study, he identified the main concerns of the people, which included security, housing, public transportation and the high cost of living.

“That is why the government comes up with transformation programmes. This is the way of the future for governance, and it is not a one-man show,” he added.

Meanwhile, panel speaker and Umno Permatang Pauh division chief Datuk Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said said the BN government should feel the pulse of the youth to remain relevant.

“This includes offering interesting packages to the youth in the field of education and providing high speed internet connection to win over young voters in the upcoming 14th General Election.

"Umno and BN need to be sensitive of the needs of young people especially when it involves education and admission into higher education institutions.

"Sports activities such as football, futsal and badminton (are also important),” he said adding, that more job opportunities needed to be created to meet future market demands.

Also present at the discussion were Federal Territory Umno Youth chief Datuk Mohd Razlan Mohammad Rafii and the prime minister’s special officer Isham Jalil.
