Own up and resign, Puad tells those behind Felda controversy

BATU PAHAT: Those involved in the latest Felda controversy should own up and resign, Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said.

Puad said he was confident Felda chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Samad would be able to deal with the issue and set things right but those responsible, if they are still in office, should take responsibility and resign.

He also questioned the attitude of those at the Federal Territory Land Office and their failure to cooperate.

“The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission needs to investigate this case thoroughly including transactions, the attitude of officers at the Federal Territory Land Office and ‘insider’ from FELDA. Stern action needs to be taken as this issue the focus of public attention,” he told BH.

Berita Harian yesterday reported that Felda is at grave risk of losing ownership of the strategic piece of land, worth RM270 million, which had been earmarked for the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) development project.

The project, once completed, would feature seven towers, including Felda’s iconic tower, to be known as KLVC Tower1A.

BH’s search on Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) web portal showed that KLVC Tower 1A had been approved for construction, alongside a 68-floor office building.

The office complex would feature 59 floors of office space, a two-floor office podium including parking lots, a six-floor car park, a two-storey underground car park, a rooftop garden, as well as a helipad.
