According to the Welfare Department’s flood portal, Kuantan continues to show a drop in evacuees, with 4,954 people from 1,396 families taking shelter at 22 relief centres, compared to 5,432 people last night.

Meanwhile, 60 victims from 14 families are at a relief centre in Rompin; 1,369 victims from 344 families are in Pekan; 138 people from 33 families are in Bera; 26 people from five families are in Jerantut; 93 people from 24 families are in Maran; 10 people from four families are in Lipis; and 11 people from four families are in Temerloh.

In PENANG, floodwaters have almost completely subsided, with the single remaining flood relief centre housing 11 families expected to be closed later today.

State Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh said that the only relief centre opened at Jawi, on the mainland, houses 28 people, including 11 children and a toddler.

"The victims are having breakfast at the moment and they are expected to return home later today, as floodwaters at Mak Mandin have subsided," he said in a statement today.
