TAWAU: Rescue teams today retrieved the body of an 8-year-old boy, who went missing after slipping into a river at Kampung Sedani here two days ago.
Mohd Azizan Rosli’s body was discovered under a pile of debris in the river behind his family’s home at about 11.30am.
In a statement today, Sabah Fire and Rescue Department said firefighters were alerted of the discovery and rushed to the site to retrieve the body.
The search and rescue operation ended at 12.26pm after the body was handed over to the victim’s family.
On Jan 6, Mohd Azizan reportedly slipped and fell into the river while playing by the riverbank.
A team of firefighters was deployed to the village to conduct a search and rescue operation after receiving a distress call at 9.57pm from the Tawau police station.
