It was learnt the flight information display system went offline during the power disruption but no flights were affected.

Malaysia Airports Kota Kinabalu senior manager Sunif Naiman said the interuption of power supply was caused by a trip at the 33kv intake at the central utilities building.

"The airport management has taken note of the incident and has ordered the engineering team to reset the 33kv switchgear.

"At 7.30pm, power supply at the terminal building was back to normal," he said.

Sunif added there was no interuption to flight operations and that generator sets were activated at all affected areas.
