Khazanah's Hasanah Bersama Rakyat to go places

KUCHING: Due to overwhelming response, Khazanah Nasional Bhd has added more stops to its community outreach programme, “Hasanah Bersama Rakyat”.

Its managing director Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar said the programme, which is an aimed at fostering unity and patriotism among Malaysians, will also be held in the Northern region and the East Coast this year.

“We plan to go to every corner of the country. After this, we may hold the event in Kedah followed by Kelantan.

“Following encouraging response for the “Hasanah Bersama Rakyat” here today, we may come back to Sarawak again.

“We will announce more dates and stops for the exposition in the future,” he told reporters after the first leg of the “Hasanah Bersama Rakyat” for this year, which was held at the Penview Convention Centre here, today.

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar was present.

Organised with Yayasan Hasanah, Yayasan Khazanah, Khazanah Research Institute and Think City, Azman said attendance for the today’s event exceeded the targeted crowd of 3,000 people.

“This event is a day for partners and staff to do good deeds through collectively planned initiatives.

“For today’s event, we have more than 40 booths operated by non-governmental organisation, government-linked investment companies and government-linked companies offering information and services on employment opportunities, health care, education and environment conservation.

“We do not only want visitors to only enjoy the activities being held here but also benefit from the booths set-up by our partners,” he said.

Wan Junaidi, who is also the Santubong Member of Parliament, praised the event, which he said would help the government to communicate its aspiration to the people.

“I was informed that the event had also been held in Kuala Lumpur and Johor last year with encouraging turnout of visitors.

“The turnout reflected public’s acceptance and I believed the event should be also extended to other parts of the parliamentary constituency and the country,” he said.
