More flood victims return home as situation improves in Pahang

KUANTAN: Sunny skies over Pahang today has allowed more relief centres to be closed, with the number of evacuees reduced to 477 from 120 families at 9am, compared to 619 last night.

Two centres in Pekan - the Kampung Lamir relief centre and SK Merchong Jaya - were closed early today.

State Civil Defence Force director Colonel Zainal Yusoff said only three centres - SK Sinar Mutiara, SK Temai and SK Aceh - are still operating.

"The flood waters in most areas have receded and the victims are in the midst of cleaning their homes before they can return. Various agencies are assisting the victims and we are expecting a further drop in the number of people at relief centres today evening," he said.

Currently, there are nine victims at SK Aceh, SK Temai(93) and SK Sinar Mutiara(375).
