Felda regaining Jalan Semarak land was not an act: Shahrir Samad

KUALA LUMPUR: Felda chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad today squashed rumours claiming that the issue of Felda ownership of lands at Jalan Semarak was purely an act.

He stressed that the issue was legitimate and Felda had yesterday, managed to secure the lands again.

“Some have said that this was all an act, a miracle. I stress that this is not as suggested and the land owned by Felda was not transferred of its ownership to the developer by said developer themselves.

“With the principles of honesty and trust, we have managed to solve the dispute in a matter of 35 days,” he said in a speech during a protest against European Union’s sanctions on palm oil here today.

According to Shahrir, Felda has always been the target of defamation and slander by irresponsible parties.

“We are always targeted because we are strong, and we are right. This is not what they (irresponsible parties) are accusing us of.”

It was reported that developer Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd had successfully returned the land worth RM270 million in Jalan Semarak to Felda yesterday.

The ownership of the land was previously transferred to Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd without approval since 2015.

The return of the land occurred 26 days after Berita Harian had exposed that Felda was at risk of losing ownership of the land to the development of the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City.
