Body of teen drowning victim recovered three days later in Sg Belat

KUANTAN: Police have recovered the body of a primary school pupil, three days after he was feared to have drowned in Sungai Belat here during an angling excursion.

The body of 12-year-old Mohd Danish Haikal Semar was found in the river, some 500m from the spot he was last seen, about 11.15am today.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali said firemen and villagers who were searching in the area recovered the victim's body.

"The body has been taken to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital. The case has been classified as sudden death," he said.

In the incident, Danish who was fishing with his friends, slipped and fell into Sungai Belat near Jaya Gading here about 2pm.

Danish was standing on a log when it suddenly gave way and he landed in the river before being swept away by the current.
