SIBU: A 23-year-old woman endured nine days of hell when she was locked up, raped and beaten by her boyfriend in his rented house.
The woman, who had been going out with the 30-year-old man for several years, said her ordeal began on Jan 15 when the man locked her up inside a room at the house, located in Jalan Empelam.
The man, believed to be under the influence of drugs, had forced her to have sex with him three times a day. If she objected, she would be punched and kicked.
He also threatened to hurt her family if she did not give in to his lust.
Her nine-day ordeal ended when the man told her to go to her relative in Bawang Assan near here, to borrow some money.
Instead of going to her relative’s house, she instead went to the nearest police station to seek help.
Sibu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said, acting the on the report, police arrested the suspect at 1.30am today.
“We will obtain a remand order against the suspect to facilitate investigation into the case,” he said.
The woman, he said, has been admitted to the Sibu Hospital.
“She is still traumatised over what happened. She also expressed puzzlement over the change of behaviour by her boyfriend. She believed he was under the influence of drugs,” he said.
