LAWAS: A teenager from Kampung Meritin here always dreaded the trip from her house to her school hostel with her uncle.
Instead of sending her straight to the hostel, her uncle would made a short stop at an isolated alley near Kampung Awat-Awat and rape her inside his multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).
The teenager claimed the incident had occurred on several occasions and the last time she was raped by her uncle was in November last year.
She could no longer contain her woes and related the matter to her adoptive mother, who in turn, took her to a health clinic near here yesterday.
Lawas district police chief Deputy Superintendent Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said a police report was lodged by a doctor from the health clinic the same day.
“The 62-year-old suspect was arrested by the police from his house on the same day.
“We also seized his grey-coloured MPV to facilitate investigation,” said Zainal Abidin in a statement today.
He said the victim, who was admitted to the Lawas Hospital here, would be referred to the Miri Hospital in Miri near here for further medical examinations.
