Construction on Kemaman's second hospital to begin soon

KEMAMAN: Construction of the town’s second hospital, worth RM420 million, will begin next month.

Scheduled for completion in mid-2021, the hospital will be located on a 50.5 hectare site in Kijal, and serve patients in north Pahang and surrounding areas.

The hospital constitutes a great victory for the Barisan Nasional government, which had fought for its construction since the mid-1990s.

"The existing hospital will be transformed into a maternity and child care centre, while the new facility will have specialists for at least 19 disciplines.

"This means Kemaman will have the biggest pool of specialists in any district hospital in the country.

"The new hospital will also feature eight operation theatres," said State health director Dr Muhammad Omar at a thanksgiving ceremony to launch the new hospital.
