PUTRAJAYA: Election Commission (EC) has stressed that the electoral system in Malaysia is conducted in a transparent and fair manner.
Its chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah said the attitude of certain quarters who questioned the transparency of the electoral system, especially when 14th General Election (GE14) is just around the corner, was considered a propaganda to confuse the people and voters.
"In the last election, EC invited international observers from several countries and appointed representatives from local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) as observers.
"In fact, the EC will invite election observers, both local and foreign observers, to look into the transparency of the electoral process in the upcoming GE14,
"Local observers consist of representatives from NGOs or any local organisations that are eligible, neutral and non-partisan," he said in a statement today.
The international observers, he said, comprise of those from various countries representing Commonwealth, ASEAN and others.
