The first batch of Cambodian workers arrived this June

PUTRAJAYA: The first batch of Cambodian workers who had passed the Pre-Release Training Program to fill job vacancy in six sectors in Malaysia are expected to arrive on June 1.

The six sectors are manufacturing, plantation, construction, services, agriculture and foreign maids.

Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Dr Richard Riot Jaem said the acceptance of the foreign workers from the fellow Asean nation fulfills the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the recruitment and employment of Cambodian workers signed by Malaysia and Cambodia on December 10, 2015.

"The number of workers for this first intake has yet to be ascertained as it depends on the Cambodian government," he told a press conference after attending the Bilateral Meeting with Cambodian counterpart Dr Ith Samheng, here, today.

The meeting aims to finalise the process of recruitment and employment of Cambodian workers in the MoU on the hiring and employment of Cambodian workers signed on 10 December 2015.
