DENGKIL: School maintenance works such as grass cutting should not be carried out during school hours.
In saying this, Deputy Education Minister Datuk P Kamalanathan said by right, the grass mower tractor should not be in the vicinity, especially when students are on the field.
He was commenting on the death of 14-year-old Nur Afini Roslan, who died in a freak accident after a blade from a lawn tractor struck her in the head this morning.
The Sekolah Menengah Tuanku Abdul Rahman student in Gemas, Negeri Sembilan died on the spot in the 10.30am incident which happened on the school field.
"The ministry is currently investigating how the accident took place including if there was an aspect of negligence on the part of the school or the contractor who had undertaken the job.
"The police are also investigating the case. Let's wait for the outcome of the investigation and action will be taken against those who are responsible," he told reporters today.
Kamalanathan was met after the ERL & E-MAS Frog Classroom Makeover Project at Sekolah Menengah Dengkil here earlier.
