PASIR GUDANG: A three-year-old boy has been killed after reportedly being run over by his own mother in a tragic accident outside their home in Jalan Ketapang, Taman Rinting, Masai.
The boy was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Hospital Penawar Pasir Gudang yesterday.
A family friend said the boy's mother, in her 30s, didn't realise the child was in front of her Perodua Alza when he was hit and dragged for about 10 metres, in the 12.30pm incident.
"She thought her youngest child was in the house with his four siblings. Her husband was also in the house at the time,"
"She only suspected something amiss after driving for about several metres,
"When she came out of the vehicle, she was shocked to find her son under the vehicle." said the family friend, who declined to be named.
She said the family then rushed the child to the hospital but it was too late.
When contacted, the boy's mother said she initially thought she was dragging some garbage that got stuck to the car’s undercarriage.
"I'm still confused by what happened. When I left, he was still in the house," she said.
Meanwhile, Seri Alam district deputy police chief, Deputy Superintendent Norazam Shaari when contacted confirmed the incident.
