MMEA to build eastern region base in Pahang

KUANTAN: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) will set up an East Region base in Pahang to facilitate operations and management in the east coast states and Johor.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim said the allocation for the new base was approved in July last year. However, he did not reveal the amount allocated.

He said the department was currently seeking a suitable location for the base, adding that the contractor for the project had been appointed.

Shahidan was speaking to reporters after attending the MMEA’s 13th Anniversary Celebrations and Passing-Out Parade at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Maritime Academy here.

Also attending the event was MMEA Director-General, Admiral Datuk Seri Zulkifli Abu Bakar. --BERNAMA
