PEKAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak arrived at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Convention hall here today to launch the national-level 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M).
Najib, who is also the Pekan member of parliament, will later distribute the first instalment of BR1M, which was introduced in 2012 to assist low-income earners to help them cushion their cost of living.
A total of RM6.3bil in aid will be given out to some 7 million recipients this year.
Those in the household category who qualify for RM1,200 will get the first payment of RM400, those who qualify for RM900 will get first payment of RM300, and those in the single individuals category will get a RM450 one-off payment.
Also present were Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Irwan Serigar Abdullah and Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob.
