Elephants pay another visit to Telupid police station

TELUPID: Elephants broke into the police station here again this morning.

NST had reported that the police station was ‘attacked’ by a herd of 10 elephants on Tuesday.

Beluran district police chief Superintendent V. Shivananthan said three elephants, including a baby, entered the premises at 4am, damaging the fence.

The elephants which had roamed around the station’s field and near the police barracks, also destroyed palm oil seedlings. He said no one was injured.

A team from the Sabah Wildlife Department rushed to the scene and teamed up with policemen to deal with the animas.

“A few hours later, the elephants left on their own and headed to the woods behind the station,” he said.

Shivananthan said he hoped the problem of elephant encroachment would be solved soon as the policemen were tired of having to monitor the animals when they come around.

NSTP had earlier reported that an elephant entered SMK Telupid yesterday morning.
