'UPUpocket' launched to track applications to higher learning institutions

KUANTAN: To enable students and parents to easily keep track of applications for entry to public and private learning institutions, the Higher Education Ministry (KPT) has launched the online application ‘UPUPocket’ since Feb 3.

Its secretary-general, Tan Sri Dr Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur said the application was easy to use and more effective than the previous manual method while enabling students and parents to do limitless updates on their choices from 12 specialisation areas offered.

“Thus, users can fill the Central University Admission Unit (UPU) form as well as check their applications and change the field of specialisation chosen according to their interest.

“Students can choose 12 specialisations, but if they feel it is too much, they can also opt to fill in a minimum of five specialisations,” Noorul Ainur explained.

Noorul Ainur disclosed this in a press conference after attending the launching ceremony of the National Higher Education Carnival of the Pahang Zone, at the Universiti Malaysia Pahang Sports Complex in the Gambang campus here today.

The event was officiated by state Islamic Affairs and Special Functions Committee chairman Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad.

Also present were UMP’s deputy vice-chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof Datuk Dr Mashitah Mohd Yusof and the ministry’s deputy secretary-general (Management), Datuk Kamel Mohamad.

Noorul Ainur added that users could also file complaints, check the academic calendar and programmes offered via the UPUPoket application as well as contact the Student Admission Division on problems faced.

The application can be downloaded from Google Play on the Android smartphone or from https://upu.mohe.gov.my. - Bernama
