Forestry enforcement officers warned not to misuse their firearms for their benefit

GUA MUSANG: The Forestry Department has warned its enforcement officers throughout the country who were equipped with 106 firearms, not to misuse the weapon for their benefit.

Peninsular Malaysia Forestry Department director-general Datuk Nor Akhirrudin Mahmud said 29 of the firearms were pistols while the rest were shotguns and pump guns.

"The Home Ministry through the police has given its approval for the forestry department to buy the weapons for the use of our enforcement officers to carry out their operations and raids.

"Pahang received the biggest number of weapons of 12 units, followed by Selangor (five).

"Kelantan and few other states received three each and with this weapon in their hands, we hope that all the obstacles encountered by the officers in carrying out their duties can be solved," Nor Akhirrudin said.
