Cracks at school worsened after earthquake

KOTA BELUD: Damages at a teachers’ quarters here worsened following the earthquake which measured 5.2 on the Richter scale in the neighbouring district of Ranau last night.

The SMK Taun Gusi quarters that were already damaged in the June 5, 2015 earthquake, also traced to Mount Kinabalu in Ranau back then, saw cracks on the building getting bigger.

A resident at the quarters, Datuk Mazinal Datu Jamalin, in his 50s, said the cracks on Block B had worsened.

"There were already three cracks on our block, after the earthquake three years ago, and all became bigger last night,” he said when contacted.

Another resident, Noriah Abd Rahim, 42, said she was with her three children on the second floor of the same block when the earthquake happened.

"I quickly took the children out of the house to an open area. I was really worried too because my husband was not at home,” she said.
