MyRumah a must-go-to event for first-time housebuyers

SHAH ALAM: The MyRumah property showcase, organised by the country’s largest newspaper group, the New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd (NSTP), has become a platform for the public, particularly first-time housebuyers, to purchase their dream homes.

Meriam Md Nor, 47, said the showcase was useful for those who were planning to buy their first property, besides increasing their knowledge on the industry.

“I like to visit showcases like this to look at the properties on offer, and if it falls within my budget, I would most likely buy something,” she said at SACC Mall here yesterday.

“Buying a house is a long-term investment, and I feel that everyone should own at least one house because property prices are appreciating.”

Meriam, who stays in Desa Alam near here, owns seven properties, including apartments, houses and office lots.

“I bought my first property — an apartment in Section 18 — when I was 23.

“It cost me about RM70,000. Now, the property is worth three times what I paid for,” she said.

Another visitor to MyRumah Property Showcase, Asri Nasri, 50, said he was there to check on the prices.

“I do have plans to buy a property, but I am still doing a research on the prices, and whether or not the property suits the budget and location,” he said.

“I am also here to listen to the talks given by experts to enhance my knowledge.”

Four developers — Sunsuria Bhd, Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd, Magna Prima Bhd dan Sime Darby Property Bhd — are participating in this showcase.

Other corporate participants include Amanah Raya Bhd, Bank Muamalat, Takaful Ikhlas, CJ Wow Shop and the Employees Provident Fund.
