Downpour causes hotel ceiling collapse in Kuching [NSTTV]

KUCHING: The continuous heavy downpour that started early this morning has caused the ceiling of a hotel here to collapse.

The 7.15am incident occurred after the rain dumped tonnes of water on the roof and the ceiling to gave way, sending water all over The Waterfront Hotel's carpeting.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Kuching deputy police chief Superintendant Abang Junaidi Abang Anuar said police have received a report on the incident from the hotel management.

"The incident also affected some part of nearby Plaza Merdeka," he said, adding that some part of the hotel has been cordoned off awaiting repair works.
