MoE agrees with legal action against those who spread lies about SK Bukit Tinggi

PADANG TERAP: The Education Ministry is supportive of SK Bukit Tinggi's plan to take legal action against those who slandered the school recently.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said the ministry was disappointed by the allegation circulated on social media that 26 pupils at the school located in Klang, Selangor, did not receive the Supplemental Food Plan (RMT) and was seeking public donations to repair damaged facilities.

He said the allegation appeared to have been made up with the intention to tarnish the school, state Education Department and the Ministry's image.

“We have procedures to follow and if the pupils really did not get the RMT, the school and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) will investigate.

“As such, we support the school's decision to take action against the perpetrator,” he told reporters after attending the 'Karnival Muafakat Kedah' today.

Mahdzir said the school administration and the PTA are carrying out investigations to identify the culprit behind the spread of the allegation.

The Education Ministry in a statement two days ago said checks on the eKasih system and the Student Database Applications, showed that all eligible pupils of the school had received the assistance provided by the government including the RMT.

In an unrelated matter, the Umno Supreme Council member, when asked to comment on the special prayer (solat hajat) performed by Selangor Pas, calling for the "destruction of Pakatan Harapan", said it was the party's prerogative to take such action.

However, Mahdzir said he believed that ‘solat hajat’ should be performed with good and positive intention.

“It is better to perform ‘solat hajat’ to pray for something positive and ask Allah to grant good things to all Muslims and all the people in the country.” he said.
