Sea Park Apartment residents raise a stink over poorly placed rubbish bins

PETALING JAYA: Sea Park Apartment residents are now furious they are being forced to leave their rubbish in front of their homes.

Residents committee chairman Annie Loo said the residents were forced to relocate the apartment's communal bins as the plot of land on which the bins were previously located, were sold off by the developer in 2008 to an individual.

As residents have been unable to come to an agreement with the new landowner, Yap Say Tee, they had to relocate the communal bins.

This comes on top of a long running parking lot dispute, which has resulted in residents being barred from parking their vehicles on Yap’s land unless they pay a fee.

Loo claimed that the back gate of the apartment had also been recently chained and padlocked.

She alleged that it was done by men acting under instruction from the landowner.

For two days, the local authority has not collected the garbage as the back gate was locked.

"More rubbish is still piling up on a daily basis.

"We just need help.

"The landowner has pushed this too far," she told the New Straits Times.

Loo said the residents want the council to take this issue seriously and do everything they possibly can.

She said the local council has been informed of the situation but nothing had been done so far.

"Keeping the residential area tidy is an important issue for the people and we want to see the council looking into this," she said.

Loo noted that the residents had also tried to seek help from Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lau Weng San but to no avail.

The Petaling Jaya Municipal Council (MBPJ) could not be reached for comment.
