BR1M continues to reduce financial burden of lower-income group [NSTTV]

PUTATAN: Tarisa Musida of Kampung Baru here has used up a lot of her savings on medical bills for her heart problem.

Fortunately, she said, the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) had reduced her financial burden.

“I have a heart problem, which requires me to undergo periodic check-ups at the hospital, apart from buying medicine. I have to bear the expenses until the day I die.

“BR1M has helped to reduce the burden of my medical costs and I am very thankful to the government.”

Tarisa, 65, was one of the 254 people from the Petagas and Tanjung Aru state constituencies who received BR1M vouchers from Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin, who is also Petagas assemblyman, at Dewan Sri Putatan here today.

Present was Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister and Tanjung Aru assemblyman Datuk Edward Yong Oui Fah.

Taxi driver Chin Ah Tung, 68, who has been receiving the financial aid for three years said he used it on daily necessities.

“I thank the government for providing us with financial assistance as it really helps to reduce my family’s burden,” he said.

Yahya said the implementation of BR1M showed the government’s concern for the lower-income group. He said the aid was especially significant for those facing financial difficulties.

On the state of preparations for the 14th General Election, Yahya who is also Putatan Umno division chief, said Umno and Sabah BN were ready for the election, regardless of whether the proposed 13 new state seats were included.
