SEREMBAN: A popular motivational speaker accused of having a scandalous affair with a married woman has expressed shock over the allegation.
Syamsul Debat said he had just returned from performing the Umrah when he was informed that someone had lodged a police report against him over the affair.
“I was shocked...the claim that I am having an affair with someone’s else’s wife is absolutely not true.
“I don’t know what has been alleged in the report or who has lodged it even,” he said, adding police had yet to contact him about the matter.
Syamsul said he was also baffled by the motive behind the allegation but did not dismiss it could have meant to tarnish his reputation.
“I cannot imagine of anyone who would have ill intentions against me.
“But then again I meet many people in the course of my work,” he said at a press conference at a restaurant here which was also attended by his lawyer Datuk T Anandan.
Syamsul appeared calm and composed at the 10-minute session. He said the short session was because he had to rush to Kuala Terengganu for another programme later tonight.
It was reported that police had started investigating the claim against Syamsul following a report lodged by the woman’s husband.
The report was lodged in Johor Baru several days ago.
He was said to have befriended the 39-year-old woman who lived in Johor Baru through Facebook, and their relationship grew before they started to contact each other by phone.
